Why do I need a Heat Genie?

A: Yes, with the Heat Genie you can keep your heating system pressurised and install an open vented stove.

Q: Do I need a new hot water cylinder to install my stove?

A: No, the Heat Genie eliminates the need to change your hot water cylinder.

Q: I’ve been told I can’t install a stove because my cylinder is too far away from where I want to put the stove. Will the Heat Genie fix this?

A: Yes, the heat Genie means the distance of your cylinder from your stove isn’t a problem.

Q: Do I need to install a buffer tank to install my stove?

A: No, while a buffer tank can still be installed with the Heat Genie, it is not needed.

Q: I have a heat pump and/or underfloor heating. Can I install a boiler stove with the Heat Genie?

A: Yes, the Heat Genie makes boiler stoves compatible with all heating systems.

Q: I have an insert stove/ open fire with a back boiler, is the Heat Genie compatible with these.

A: Yes, the Heat Genie is compatible with these types of solid fuel boilers.

Q: How Many radiators/liters of water can I heat with the Heat Genie?

A: This figure depends on the size of stove you install.

Q: How big is the Heat Genie?

A: The recommended space for installation of a heat genie is 490mm X 330mm X 150mm (Height X Depth X Width)

Q: I am installing 2 stoves in my house; will one Heat Genie be enough?

A: No, you must install a separate Heat Genie for each solid fuel boiler you are installing.

Q: Does my heating system have to be sealed/pressurised if I use the Heat Genie?

A: No, if you use the Heat Genie it can be sealed or open vented.

Q: Who can install a Heat Genie?

A: Any qualified plumber or heating engineer can install the Heat Genie. We provide a free design service and a comprehensive backup service to ensure your chosen installer has the best support available.

Q: Can I have a fully zoned solid fuel Boiler?

A: Yes, with the heat Genie your zoned heating system can control the heat output of your solid fuel boiler.

Q: Do I need two pumps with the Heat Genie?

A: Yes, the Heat Genie supplies heat to your central heating system indirectly via a heat exchanger, meaning a pump is needed on the circuit from the stove to the Heat Genie, and on the circuit from the Heat Genie to the central Heating.

Q: Do I need a SystemZone or SpiroZone manifold to install the Heat Genie?

A: No, although we recommend SystemLink’s manifolds for zoning and linking together multiple heat sources, the Heat Genie is compatible with zoning via motorised valves.

Q: Do I need to zone my heating system to use a Heat Genie?

A: No, it’s not necessary to zone your home, although we do recommend zoning for any solid fuel installation to get the most from your solid fuel boiler.

Q: What happens if my electricity goes out and my fire is lit?

A: The Heat Genie’s dedicated cooling circuit will ensure the stove is protected by preventing it from overheating or pitching into the feed and expansion tank.

Q: Do I need still need to change my cylinder, install a heat leak radiator, or install a buffer tank if I use the Heat Genie.

A: No, none of these are required if the solid fuel boiler is installed using a Heat Genie.

Q: I have a combi boiler installed in my central heating system and no domestic hot water tank, can I install a solid fuel boiler with the Heat Genie even if I have no hot water cylinder?

A: Yes, you do not need a hot water cylinder to install a solid fuel boiler if you use the Heat Genie.
